Good evening NOVAC,
Just a reminder - we continue our monthly general meetings this Sunday, 13 June at 7:30pm. This month we’ll have Dr. Michael Summers, Professor of Planetary Sciences and Astronomy at George Mason University, tell us about the interstellar object, Oumuamua that sped through our solar system back in 2017. This was the first object to pass our way that has been confirmed to have originated outside our solar system. He’ll share what we have learned about this object and what might be coming next. Bring all your questions!

Here’s how to join our meeting on Sunday.

Please join early if you can and share your observations and experiences over the past month. We’ve had a terrific month with at least three really good observing sessions with the public and fellow NOVAC members, including Astronomy Day 2021. Great job and thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped pull off five separate observing events in addition to all the normally requested outreach! Clear skies always help, but the volunteer help is what really makes it possible to pull off any of these largely-attended observing events.

Finally, a special thanks to Henry Bottjer who put together a really nice photo album of Astronomy Day. Take a look:

Thanks Henry, super job!

“See” you all on Sunday,
Paul S
