*NOVAC General Meeting*

*Dinner at 5:30 at Brion's Grille*

Hello NOVAC!  Please mark your calendars for our next general meeting on
May 6 from 7 - 9 at our usual spot in Room 163 of Research Hall on the
campus of GMU.

There is a change to the dinner venue this month. We will meet for dinner
at 5:30 at *Brion's Grille, 10621 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA*.  I'll send a
reminder again of this different location before the meeting.

In the first hour of the meeting, in addition to the usual updates and
viewing reports we will hear from *Aydin Gokce* one of the recipients of
our Phil Wherry scholarships this year.

Then, Ms. *Denise Silva* will speak to us on auroras:

*If viewing and capturing auroras are on your bucket list, then this
presentation is for you! Learn how auroras are created, learn why they come
in different colors, and learn how to capture images of this amazing
phenomenon, as well as how to prepare yourself and gear for extreme outdoor
conditions.*


Here's a brief bio on Denise

*​Denise was the featured photographer in the July/August 2015 Photoshop
User Magazine Who’s Who in the KelbyOne Community Article. Additionally,
Denise was recognized as one of the Top 200 Women Photographers Who Inspire
by Nature Photo Guides and has had multiple articles published in
Extraordinary Vision (EV) Magazine. *

*Denise finds every aspect of photography rewarding. From in-camera
composition to post-processing, photography is meditative, creative, and
challenging. Her passion is to capture images, from landscapes to urban
decay and to share her experiences and knowledge with fellow adventurers
and photographers. *

photography with you. There is no better place to learn and develop your
skills than in the field! *


Please join us to hear from both Aydin and Denise. I encourage you to
invite friends who are photographers, nature lovers, or who are just
interested in the Northern (or Southern) Lights.
