[NOVAC announcement] Reminder - NOVAC General Meeting January 10th

Just a reminder that our general meeting will take place tomorrow.

Sunday, January 10th, marks our first meeting of 2016.  As per usual  we will hold it at 7:00 PM in Room #163 of Research Hall on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax. To start out the New Year, we're asking NOVAC members who wish to do so to bring in their equipment for a meeting Show 'n Tell.  As many of you know, our membership includes a lot of folks who are both creative and engineering adept.  So, if you have a home built telescope, or an interesting piece of equipment in your stable that helps you observe, please consider bringing it to our meeting on Sunday, the 10th.  We'd like folks who have a favorite Celestron, Orion, Meade or other model scope to bring them along to set up at the meeting as well.  Too often new members, and long term members, don't get the chance to see what others have found useful for observing.  Another important part of our meeting will be honoring our volunteers in 2015.  "To observe and help others observe" is NOVAC's mission. Without the help of all of our volunteers, outreach would be impossible.  Not only would the general public lose out on seeing the marvels in our night sky, but recruiting a new crop of amateur astronomers is not a bad thing to undertake to ensure our club's longevity.Instead of our regular pre-meeting dinner at Brion's Grille, we will have set up in Room #163 finger foods and drink similar to that available at our Astronomy Day and Star Gaze events.I hope you will be able to join us.Clear skies,Terry
