[NOVAC announcement] ALCon 2016 Slogan Contest

Hello All; 

Nice to see the sun after so much rain! 

As most of you know, NOVAC will be hosting the Astronomical League's annual national convention next August. As part of the advertising for that big event, I want to hold a slogan contest for NOVAC club members to come up with a catchy phrase we can use that meshes astronomy and the Nation's Capitol hopefully in a memorable way. 

"ALCON 2016 Washington DC - The Nation's LightDome".......................would be an example of a bad slogan! 

We will run this to Saturday December 13th and all submissions will be reviewed by the planning committee leadership. I will do this as a blind test so the judges won't know who submitted the slogans. If we find a winner, it will be announced at the club meeting the next day. If we do get a winner they will receive a new Ioptron Livestar Mini-planetarium. (Very cool!)
