Weather permitting, please join us on Turner Mountain on Friday August 9th
from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm for an afternoon and evening at this great site.

Please note that this is a date change from the originally planned date.
This was done to avoid having too many public observing sessions on the
same night. (There are two planned the following Saturday.)

We will have a grill set up and will be cooking hot dogs and burgers.
Please bring a dish to share with others, as well something to quench your
thirst.

We hope to have several telescopes for the general public to enjoy the
views with at the event. I will be bringing my newly acquired solar scope,
if you have one, please bring it too. For the evening, I will be bringing
my trusty 16" dob scope, if you have a scope or binos, please bring these
as well.

While the general public will be expected to depart the site around 11pm,
NOVAC members are more than welcome to stay as long as you wish.

For those of you interested in saying real late, bring your tent if you
wish and make a night of it! To help with site layout, please send me a
note off list if you intend to do this and I will work with you on where to
set up with a tent. (I plan to bring mine).

Since this is the first ever public night at Turner Mountain that NOVAC has
held, I ask that if you plan on attending please drop me a short email RSVP
as soon as you can off-list at araasch at gmail.com to allow us to get a rough
idea of how many to plan for on Friday. I realize that weather and peoples
schedules change, but what I ask is that if you are thinking of coming,
just let me know. If something happens and you can't make it, that's fine
but at least we will have been ready to host you at the site.

For those who have not been to the Turner Mountain site before, it is near
The Plains, VA. Drive time from Fairfax given good traffic would be about
50 minutes or so. Probably longer on a Friday afternoon, though. The
details on how to get to the site are on this web page:
http://www.novac.com/wp/members/sites/turner-mountain/

A invite to the public will go out soon via our many social media outlets
as well as our website.

If you have any questions, please contact me off-list at araasch at gmail.com

Thanks,

-Arlen Raasch
