Special Interest Groups (SIG)
Special Interest Groups allow members to concentrate on
specific areas of amateur astronomy and are open to everyone in the club. Anyone
can start a SIG. Just figure out what you want to do and notify the members of
your intentions. It's that easy.
ATM - Amateur
Telescope Making
ATMers build their own telescopes. Members meet monthly at someone's
home to show off what they've made and get help with problems.
VOID - Video Occultation
Imaging Digitally
VOID helps you understand the world of occultation's, or when the moon passes
between you and a star. You can watch the star disappear and reappear between
the mountains along the limb of the moon. Members meet at Novac observing
events.
The Novac RoboScope -
The club's latest CCD endeavor. An LX-200 robotic
telescope is being installed in West Virginia for automated imaging.

MOS - Monthly
Observing Sessions
While no longer a SIG, the MOS group plans and executes our Monthly Observing
Sessions. MOS events can always use volunteers and you can contribute as much or
as little as you like.
Spruce Knob
Observing
Spruce Knob, WV offers the best deep sky observing on the East Coast. Observing
at Spruce is included in your membership and is about a 5 hour drive from the
Capital Beltway.
COLT
- Citizens
Outdoor Lighting Taskforce
Created by two Novac Members, COLT offers information on preserving out
nighttime skies. To find out more about light pollution, check out the COLT
website.
